Merlin was born December 18, 1943 in Enid, Oklahoma to Elmer and Alice (Weber) Landwehr and passed away February 14, 2023. He grew up southwest of Waukomis and attended Waukomis schools through 8th grade and graduated high school from Sheldon, Missouri in 1961. He went on to attend Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he was Vice President and President of the Aggie Club, member of the rodeo team and livestock judging team that earned top rated beef cattle team at the Houston Fat Stock Show. He later graduated from Oklahoma State University with an Agricultural Education degree. After college, he returned to Carrier, Oklahoma to join his father farming and raising cattle. He married Ruth Ann Talbott, November 20, 1976 and from this union came two children, Matthew and Rochelle. He raised his family the same way he was raised by farming and working together as a family. He served as a Garfield County 4-H Foundation board member, received the Chisholm Honorary FFA Chapter Degree and served on the NW Oklahoma Club Lamb Association. Merlin’s senior year quote was “THE WORLD WAS MADE TO ENJOY, SO ENJOY IT” Without a doubt he enjoyed it! He never met a stranger or lacked the time to visit with people. In addition to farming, he worked local sale barns, drove trucks and did whatever it took to provide for his family. Merlin became recognized throughout northern Oklahoma by hauling hay with his white truck and trusty sidekick border collie, Tippie. His proudest moments included watching Matt and Rochelle exhibit their lambs and participate in 4-H trapshooting.

He is survived by wife, Ruth Ann, of the home, son Matt and wife Angela of Enid, daughter Rochelle and husband Warren of Waukomis, two grandsons, McCoy Landwehr and Wyatt Wheeler, sister, Janie Claflin of Sheldon, Missouri, and sister-in-law Lamoine Talbott of Enid, plus many loved nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Elmer and Alice Landwehr.

Memorials made be through the Anderson-Burris to Drummond FFA or Waukomis FFA.
