Maxine Louise Murrow

Maxine (Max) L. Murrow, 87 passed from this life on Saturday July 6th 2019.

Maxine was born in rural Woods County N.W. of Alva Oklahoma in 1932 to Alphie Ora and Mayme (Wagoner) Finfrock. She spent her childhood on the family farm and graduated from Farry High School in western Woods County. Maxine was the second child of four with an older brother Theodore and younger twin sisters Joan and Jean.

She married E. Leon Murrow in 1949, at the Cora Church of the Nazarene the union was blessed with a daughter Bonnie Jean who did not survive infancy, and sons Ricky L Murrow (Anita) of Enid, OK and Jerry M. Murrow (Sherri Jones) of Mustang, OK.

Maxine was a wonderfully talented individual; she played basketball in high school, enjoyed golf as an adult, and painted landscapes. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Central Oklahoma Quilters Guild. She also especially loved her grandchildren visiting her at the farm as she shared the Woods County country wild life and nature walks with them looking for animal tracks while watching birds, turkey and deer.

She worked as a bookkeeper for First National Bank of Perry OK, a Teller at Central National Bank of Enid, and as Secretary/Treasurer of E.L. Murrow Company in Enid OK.

Maxine was preceded in death by her father in 1945 and mother in 2002, brother KIA in the Korean Conflict in 1952, both sisters Jean in 2001, Joan in 2017, infant daughter Bonnie Jean in 1951 and husband Leon who passed in 2010.

She is survived by her sons, five grandchildren, Vanessa Murrow Gerst (Marty) of Oklahoma City; Megan Murrow of Lahoma; Ryan Murrow (Leann) of Oklahoma City; Alyson Murrow (Wes) of Austin Texas; Kyle Murrow (Bobbie) of Mustang OK; six great grandchildren, Aiden and Ethan Gerst; Katelyn Cooper; Ashton Henderson; Kase Murrow and Alex Kidd-Weaver.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Henninger~Hinson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love of Enid, OK with the Funeral Home acting as custodians of the fund.
