Maxine Louise Ireland

March 28, 1926 - December 28, 2020

Maxine Louise (Dillon) Ireland was born March 28, 1926 in Enid, Oklahoma to Charles E. and Ethel M. (Stucker) Dillon and passed away December 28, 2020 at the age of 94 after a brief illness. She graduated from Enid High School in 1944, where she was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Phillips University in 1948. While at Phillips, she was a member of the Zonta Social Service Club.

On August 10, 1948, she married John B. Ireland. Together, they accepted teaching positions in Kansas at Rose Hill High School. She left teaching for motherhood and raising their two sons. She was a substitute teacher, Cub Scout den mother, PTA officer, and supported her children and grandchildren in all their musical and athletic endeavors. She was an avid bridge player and a sports enthusiast. She lived in Mulvane and Kansas City, Kansas before returning to Enid.

Maxine was a long-time member of Central Christian Church for over sixty years. She was baptized and raised in the church, and returned as a member when her family moved back to Enid in 1969. She was a dedicated Christian and an active participant in all types of church activities. She was a gracious woman in all ways and was loved very deeply by her family.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her sons, Tim (Sandi) Ireland of Stillwater, OK and Tom Ireland of Enid, OK; grandchildren, Craig (Meredith) Ireland of Edmond, OK and Jill (Greg) Bloyd of Edmond, OK; great-grandchildren, Tucker and Cooper Ireland and Graham and Jett Bloyd as well as her sister, Martha Lambert of Baldwin City, KS.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private family burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be given to Central Christian Church of the charity of your choice with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds. The family would like to thank Maxine’s caretakers for their excellent care over the last few years.
