The services celebrating the life of Mrs. Mary “Kay” Worrell will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 13, 2017 in The First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Andrew Long officiating. Public viewing will begin on Tuesday May 9, 2017 in Brown Cummings Funeral Home. Services and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Mary "Kay" (McShane) Worrell-83 of Enid, was born December 26, 1933 and passed away April 29,2017. Kay was born on December 26, 1933 in Monett, MO to Kenneth and Mary McShane. She grew up in Monett, with younger sister Barbara, and graduated high school there.
Following her father’s wishes for her to attend "a great football school", she left home to start college at OU. She graduated from the school of pharmacy, and served as president of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi. There she met James Arthur Worrell, and they married in 1956.
Once married, they moved a few times and settled in Southern California and raised their three children. She later followed her dream of attending nursing school and became an RN, while raising her three children.
Kay worked as a registered nurse and pharmacist until she retired in her 70's. After retiring, she moved to Enid. She devoted her life to being "Grandma Kay" to her six grandchildren, and loved being around her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking. Kay also looked forward to her "hot cup of tea".
Kay devoted much of her time every Saturday to "Manna" at First Presbyterian Church. She delighted in serving and volunteering and loved every minute of it.
Kay is survived by her three children and spouses. Dr. James and Polly Worrell of Enid.
Dr. Rebecca and Storm Eagle A.P.R.N. of Norman, OK. Thomas Brock RN of Norman, OK. Grandchildren, Christopher and Jane A. Worrell, Matthew Worrell, William Worrell, Jessica Eagle, Kevin Eagle, and Chase Eagle. Kay is also survived by her sister Barbara Wolfe of Brevard, N.C.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Foundation for the Disabled or Manna at First Presbyterian Church, Enid, OK with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
