The celebration of life service for Mary “Ginger” Hitt, 96 year-old former Enid resident will be 10:00AM Monday, November 27, 2017 in the Henninger-Hinson Chapel. The Rev. Gary Miller will officiate.

Ginger was born October 11, 1921 in Enid to Logan and Mary (Arnold) Danely and died Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Stillwater surrounded by her family. She attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1938. After graduation she worked as a telephone operator working her way up to supervisor.

She met her future husband at the Baptist Training Union and on October 17, 1947 she married Stanley James Hitt in the First Baptist Church. The couple made their home in Marshall, OK. where they were active members of the Marshall Christian Church. Ginger and her friend Luella Reim published the Prairie City Piper for 7 years. in the seventies. She was also a founding member of the Palette’s , a painting club in Marshall. She was also the Editor of the Journal of the Cherokee Strip and very active in the Genealogy Society.She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Dramatic Arts Club. She was also a member of Eastern Star and DAR. The couple moved to Enid in 1978 where they attended Central Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Beth Beeby and husband Larry of Stillwater, her son Jim Hitt and wife Karen of Woodland Park, CO. Grandchildren, Meredith Shafer(George), Matt Beeby (Joyelle), Melody Johnson, Jeri Miller, Leslie Miller, Stacy McGahey(Kirk),Lisa Ortiz(Raul), and Erin Hitt. 13 great-grandchildren, one brother Glenn Danely and wife Joan, OKC. And numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to either Central Christian Church or the Cherokee Strip Museum.
