Thank you for your prayers. A Private Family Graveside Service for Mary Phillis Campbell age 99 of Enid will be Saturday with Rev. Gail Edmison officiating in the White Cemetery, Hunter, OK under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Mary Phillis Campbell was born March 27, 1921 on a farm northwest of Hunter. Phillis went to meet her Lord and Savior on May 11, 2020 at The Commons Nursing Center. She was the daughter of John William Young and Luzilla (Babe) Cochrun Young. Phillis was raised in the Hunter community and graduated from Hunter High School and Enid Business College. She was employed by Clinesmith-McCoy Furniture. On September 21, 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, Kendall Campbell at her parent’s home near Hunter. In October, Phillis moved to Leominister, Massachusetts and later to Black River, New York to be with her husband who was serving with the 45th Division. When Kendall was deployed overseas, she returned to Oklahoma. After Kendall was discharged from the Army, they lived in Enid for three years until moving to a farm northeast of Hunter. In 1961 they built a home in Hunter where they resided for 43 years. In 2004 they moved to the Commons Retirement Community in Enid. Phillis was a 70-year member of the Hunter United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher, organist, and member of the choir. She was a faithful member of United Methodist Women. Phillis was a member of the Country Club Homemakers, served on the election board, and coordinated the annual blood drive in Hunter for many years. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for 38 years. Throughout the years her children attended school, she was always involved in their school activities and served as class parents for all four children. She enjoyed all things musical and loved creating programs and writing skits for 4-H Share of the Fun. After moving to Enid, Phillis became a member of the Enid First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Friendship Class and United Methodist Women. Phillis and Kendall loved to travel visiting all 50 states and Europe. They especially loved staying on lakes in Minnesota. She was blessed to have been able to attend many of her grand and great grand-children’s activities. Phillis was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and crafter who shared her talents with family members and friends.

Phillis is survived by her son Jerry (Carolyn) Campbell, Wichita, KS, daughters Ann (Jerry) Pope, Woodward, OK, Sue (Don) Buhler, Pratt, KS and Cindy (Gayland) Irwin, Borger, TX. Grandchildren Mark (Debbie) Campbell Lenexa, KS; Kim (Garry) Stephens, War Acres, OK; Troy (Nancy) Pope Woodward, OK; Kevin (Marcy) Campbell, Udall, KS; Shelly (Todd) Overstreet; Kingfisher, OK; Devin Irwin, Perryton, TX; Megan (Doug) Hardin, Borger, TX; Garrett Irwin, Truckee, CA; and Katie Buhler, Wamego, KS; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Kendall Campbell and her sister Helen Thorne.
