Mary, along with her twin brother Ted, was born April 30, 1926; to Zeddie Melton and Jessie Jones in Drumright, OK in her aunts’ home. Her dad Zed worked in the oilfield as a pipefitter and they moved from one job to another in various towns. She said she went to 11 different schools in her 12 years of schooling. She came from a large, loving family and her favorite thing was when all the extended family got together for holidays and gatherings. She graduated from Waukomis High School in 1944 and met her future husband, Glen Goodwin, her senior year. They were married in July 1944 and they were blessed with three children; Kenny, Ginger, and Kelly. In 1955 they moved to Wakita to farm land and raise the children. Many wonderful memories were made in that country home. Mary worked at Guthrie Drug Store in Wakita which the kids enjoyed. She was a devoted mother, wife, and homemaker and was also a wonderful cook. In 1962, the family moved to Enid and Mary went to work at Central National Bank, where she worked for the next 30 years. She cherished the longtime friendships she made with her coworkers. During that time, she obtained her real estate license and studied to fly the family airplane. She married Jake Donaldson in 1983 and they traveled, gardened together and had many years of devoted life together until he passed away. Her children have said that their mom was never known to raise her voice to anyone including them, and was a friend to anyone she met. She was an angel on earth and loved all her family unconditionally, and never complained about anything. Mary was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Enid.
Mary is survived by her children, Kenny and Judy Goodwin of OKC; Ginger Engler and her husband Bob of Waukomis; Kelly and Cindy Goodwin of Enid; grandchildren; Tammy Neal, Julie McMahon, Nick Goodwin, Katie Barker, and Austin Miles, and several great grandchildren, step children; Cynthia Rowland, Candace Zaslaw, Suzanne Hunter, Sara Abbott, sister Judy Thomason and twin brother Ted Melton and wife Carol.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jacqueline Melton, brother Jerry Melton, grandson Jeremy Becker and step grandson Robby Zaslaw.
