The Lord called Mary Ruth Moore home on January 31, 2024, after a significant period of illness. The following is but a glimpse into her remarkable full life.
Mary was born on February 20, 1955, in Mounds, Illinois, to Ruthie Mae Floyd and Grady Floyd, Sr. Mary graduated from Meridian High School in Mounds, Illinois in 1973. She went on to attend Draughon Business School and obtained an Associate Degree in Business Administration. In 1974, Mary married the late Charles William Morrow, and two children were born from this union, Lonnie, and Howard. The family moved to Enid, Oklahoma in 1978. Mary began her career at Vance Air Force Base in April 1990. Mary continued her work as a civilian contractor until her retirement in November, 2021.
Mary’s life may have been cut short, but the laughs, stories, and memories we all shared with her will live on forever. She touched the hearts of many while she was still with us. Her infectious smile and contagious laugh filled the room with joy. Mary truly knew no stranger, and if you were a stranger, it wasn’t long before you were a friend. The essence of Mary’s joy was her devotion to her husband and family. Mary knew the power of a good home-cooked meal and how it could unite people to fellowship, create memories, strengthen families and build friendships. The following well-known phrase hung on a placard in her home and summed up her view on life: “Live…Laugh…Love.” A Christian and believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Mary’s selfless devotion and nurturing nature often placed the well-being of others above her own. Mary leaves behind a host of family and friends who will forever love her just the same.
Mary and Hugh were married for 12 years, since May 19, 2012, and blended their families with love. Mary is survived by her husband, Hugh; children, Lonnie (Brenda) Morrow, and Howard Morrow, Rebecca (Tommy) Greer, Melinda (Kenny) Pritchett, Alicia (Eliseo) Lizama; grandchildren, Lonicia (Carlo) Walker, Chamari Morrow, Katelyn Nicole Morrow, Alyssa Renee Morrow, Chrissa Johnson, Tay Johnson, Donta Scott, Ian Greer, Ellie Greer, Emma Pritchett, Kameron Pritchett, Elias Lizama, Abby Lizama; great-grandchildren, Karter Walker, Kamryn-Rose Walker, Kyron Walker, Deacon Scott, and Kingston Scott; siblings, Grady (April) Floyd, of Jackson, MO, Flora Marks, of Oklahoma City; Lawrence Gleghorn of Mounds, Illinois, and Willie and Debra Floyd, of Poinciana, FL. Mary is preceded in death by her father, Grady Floyd, Sr. in 1992; mother, Ruthie Mae Floyd in 1994; and husband, Charles William Morrow in 2008.
Child of God, Mother, Wife, Sibling, Friend…whatever role she fulfilled in your life…her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in our lives, and we will truly miss her.
