Celebration of Life Service for Mary Lu Haws will be 2:00 PM, Monday March 18, 2024 at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, with Rev. Gail Edmison officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mary Lu graduated from Ringwood High School in 1954. She was a past queen of the Ringwood Watermelon Festival. She attended Enid Business College where she learned shorthand and other secretarial skills. She married Glen Swanson in 1956 and they had two daughters.
Her employment for many years was at George E. Failing Company, followed by W.B. Johnston Grain Company. Mary Lu married Ron Haws in 1976 and gained five sons through this union.
Mary Lu had a pleasing laugh to match her witty sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, singing in the choir, and traveling. She made delicious fudge and heavenly homemade bread which she shared at many fellowship dinners at New Hope United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents; sisters, LaVerne and Alice Jane; and brother, Lloyd Terry.
She will be missed for her kindness and penchant to give the "best" hugs to her friends and children: Cindy Swanson, Diana Hahl, Mike and Kristy Haws, Phil and Nikki Haws, Doug and Terry Haws, Roger and Sharrell Haws, and Kenny Haws; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
