The Right of Committal celebrating and honoring the life of Mrs. Mary Lou Chastain, 86, of Enid will be held at 11:00 A.M. May 14, 2020 in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born November 21, 1933 to Sebastian and Helen Schmidt Aberle in Zeeland, North Dakota and passed from this life on May 07, 2020 in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was raised in Zeeland, North Dakota and moved with her family to Strasburg, N.D. and then to Bismarck, N.D. where she graduated from High School in 1951. She then enlisted in the United States Air Force Communications where she honorably served her country. She married Robert Marion Chastain on October 03, 1953 in Long Beach, California. The couple moved to Oklahoma City and lived there shortly before moving to Enid, OK. She worked for the Sears Company and then Enid High School. In 1972 she co-owned and operated The Nifty Needle sewing shop. Her family then moved back to Oklahoma City in 1977 where she worked for a title company for fifteen years before returning to Enid in 1992. She loved dancing, cooking, needle point, and crafting. Most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Chastain and wife Michelle, and Donald Chastain, grandchildren, Christopher Chastain, Nicholas Chastain, Jeremy Chastain, Jamie Brooks, Mathew Chastain, and Jonathan Chastain, 8 great-grandchildren, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, and her son, James, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
