Graveside service for Mary Beth Cassody of Enid will be 2:00PM, Thursday, March 12, 2020 in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Brian Meyer officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mary was born October 18, 1924 on a farm east of North Enid to Everett and Mabel (Randolph) Hays, and she passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 in Enid.

Mary attended grade school in a one room school home ½ mile from her home until the 8th grade. She then attended Garber High School graduating in 1942. After graduation World War II had just broken out and she went to Wichita, Kansas to work at Boeing defense plant as “Rosie the Riveter” for three years. After the war she returned home to marry her “boyfriend” George Cassody who has just been released from a World War II German prison camp for 18 months. They were married in her parents home east of Enid on May 5, 1946. They farmed in the Covington area all of their 65 years of marriage. To this union was born three children Marilyn Jo, Russell George, and Barbara Jean.

Mary Beth was a member of Central Christian Church and Sooner Sunday School Class, Eastern Star Ruth Chapter No. 477, and Women of the Moose. She and George traveled through out the USA, 9 Countries over seas and two cruises. She also enjoyed golf, music, dancing, going to casinos to visit her money, traveling with Dean and Karan Meyer to OSU Sporting Events, and going to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Her grandchildren always said “Bena Mary” (a nickname Aaron gave her when he was young) , she also loved baking.

Mary Beth is survived by her children, Marilyn and Mark Simpson of Piedmont, Oklahoma, Russell of Covington, Oklahoma and Barbara Cassody of Kimberling City, MO. Grandchildren Dr. Christa Hise of New Jersey, Aaron and his wife Kristina, two great-grandchildren Kennedy and Ashton Cassody of Covington, Oklahoma. Two sisters Bonnie Johnson, Evelyn Cassody and numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful neighbors and hosts of friends. Preceding her in death was her husband George Cassody, parents Everett and Mabel Hays, brothers Jack Hays and Roger Hays and sisters Dorothy Dace and Jerry Schultz and her beloved grandparents Mat and Annie Hays.
