Marvin Lyle Sears, 93, met his Savior on March 10, 2020, in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Major County, OK to Cecil Ellsworth Sears and Elizabeth (White) Sears.

After graduating from Cleo Springs High School in 1944, he joined the US Navy. He was assigned to the USS Hoggatt Bay and served in the South Pacific, receiving an honorable discharge in June 1946. Marvin married Clara Lorraine Conaway on August 27, 1950 in Fairview, OK. They moved to Kansas City, MO, where he received his certificate in architectural drafting. The couple moved to Enid, OK, where he was employed at Long Bell Lumber Company producing home blueprints. He also was employed by several local contractors and individuals customizing home designs.

Marvin and his brother-in-law, Bob Towell, operated Champlin Station #1 on East Broadway from 1958-1964. He then was employed by the US Post Office as a letter carrier from 1964-1992. He was appreciated by his mail patrons, and often shared humorous stories about happenings on his route.

Marvin was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and Coffee Mates Camping Club. He enjoyed going to South Texas for the winter, traveling to the Rocky Mountains, painting landscapes and sharing them with family and friends, and numerous card games. He also had a life long passion for tuning up cars.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Clara; daughter Shirley (Sears) Atkinson and husband Larry of Gravois Mills, MO, son William Clavin (Clay) Sears and wife Debi of Bentonville, AR; one sister, Jane Towell of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Neva Sears of Norman; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm. Celebration of life service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday March 14, 2020 at New Hope United Methodist Church, with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following.
