Louise was born November 26, 1926 on the Peck Farm in Jet, Oklahoma to Clayton and Anna ‘Louie’ Peck and passed away December 6, 2020. As a child she enjoyed working on the farm with her father: driving the combine during wheat harvest and raising cattle, pigs and chickens. She learned how to play the piano when her dad brought one home in a horse drawn wagon. In school, she played half-court basketball and broke her finger during one game. Louise loved to travel, spending time with a neighbor who moved to Scotland and her sister who lived in Alaska. She sang in the church choir. As an adult she preferred being outside fishing or gardening instead of inside doing housework. Louise loved to play dominoes, cards, board games, and putting jigsaw puzzles together. She crocheted, knitted and embroidered many items treasured by family and friends. Louise loved to watch all kinds of sports, especially when her children, grandchildren and great grandson were playing. Her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, OKC Thunder, Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma University. Louise cherished each moment holding and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She married Claude Stepp on Friday, July 28, 1950 at Timberlake Methodist Church in Helena, Oklahoma. After graduating from Jet High School in 1944, she lived at the YWCA in Enid and worked for the telephone company. Louise also worked as a Nurse’s Aid at St Mary’s Hospital, Methodist Nursing Home, and as a home health care nurse.
Louise is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Stepp of Oklahoma City, Anna Stepp of Oklahoma City, Sharon Davis of Padre Island, Texas; grandchildren, Marie Davis and her partner Wyatt Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas, Brandon Thacker and his partner Emily Bryant of Norman, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Colt Williams, Miriam Thacker, Anastasia Thacker; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Stepp; mother, Anna Louie (Lemon) Peck; father, Clayton Peck; sisters, Mina Eliene Peck, Clara Higgins, Margery Jean Shorter; son-in-law, Rodney Davis.
Memorial contributions in Louise’s name can be made to Your Family Church or FURever Friends with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
