Marie Woodbury

December 31, 1925 - May 27, 2024

Marie Woodbury was welcomed Home and into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 27, 2024. A celebration of her life will be held at the Anderson Burris Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Marie was born in Carmen, OK, on December 31, 1925, to Ernie and Stella Jamison.

She graduated from Enid High School, Class of 1944. In 1946, Marie met and fell in love with a handsome young soldier, Earl Woodbury. Earl’s cousin Leota introduced them through the church. Their first date was going to a basketball game that neither of them were really interested in, but it was a great way to spend some time together.

Earl and Marie married August 23, 1947. They were blessed with two daughters, Linda and Jane. They raised their family in The Wesleyan Methodist Church.

In her early married years, Marie wrote for the social column and obituaries for the Enid Publishing Co. Marie later became a dedicated homemaker and accomplished seamstress.

Marie considered it an honor to work for the election board for many years.

Earl and Marie were married 61 years before Earl’s passing in 2009.

Marie has been reunited in Heaven with her husband, Earl; beloved mother whom she lost far too young; her father; an infant half-brother; as well as numerous, cherished friends.

Those left to celebrate the life of their beloved family matriarch is her daughter and caregiver, Jane Grooms; daughter, Linda Fillwock and husband Dennis; grandchildren, Amy Popham and her family James and Marossie, Kelly Merrill and his family Kristin and Kambry, Andrew Merrill and his family Jessica and Lincoln, Chris Fillwock and wife Tenille, Beth Maitz and her family Charlie, Cadence, Gabby and Sloane.

Marie’s family will miss her deeply but are rejoicing her arrival into The Kingdom of Heaven. She lived her entire life with her eyes faithfully set on The Lord. Knowing that she’s been welcomed home and heard the words, “Well done my good and faithful servant” is all that her family could ever want for her.
