The memorial service for Margaret “Irene” Clayton, 80 year-old Enid resident will be 3:00PM Friday, June 30, 2017 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The Rev. Wade Burleson will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. A visitation with family will be from 5PM-7Pm Thursday evening.

Irene was born September 29, 1936 near Walters, Oklahoma to Jim and Cora (Ginn) High and died Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She graduated from Walters High School, class of 1955, and then attended Cameron College in Lawton.

On November 24, 1956 she married Alfred Clayton in Emerson Baptist Church. The couple made their home in Enid where Irene worked at Central National Bank in the loan department. She also worked at United America Advertising.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist where she was an active member of Lydia Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the YMCA where she loved to swim. She loved to travel with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Cindy Crain and husband Joe, John Clayton and wife Lisa, Peggy Rose and husband Danny. Ten grandchildren; Christi, Candy, Carrie, Ryan, Candice, Andrew, Jacob, Sarah, Megan, and Joshua. 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Doris Marshall and brother Bill High and wife Bobbie Neel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alfred, brother, Melvin High, and sister, Helen Smith, son-in-law, Kelly Burnham and one granddaughter, Kinsley.
