Lyndel Dean Mahaffey

September 13, 1941 - July 15, 2024

He was born in Jefferson, Oklahoma and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1959. After graduation, he attended NWOSU, where he earned his degree in accounting and woodworking.

Lyndel worked for the Feuquay Elevator Company as a bookkeeper for many years. On July 19, 1969, he married the love of his life, Sharyne Ralph of Larned, Kansas. They spent 55 wonderful years together. Their daughter, Tracy Ann was born on May 28, 1970. On July 7, 1970, he received an Honorable discharge from the US Army, after 6 years of service and achieving the rank of E6. Upon the closing of Feuquay Elevator, he started working with the Garfield County Maintenance department, later as a supervisor at the DHS/Health building. His most recent position was for the OSU extension office as a part time maintenance employee.

Lyndel enjoyed woodworking, gardening (flowers & vegetables), times at the lake with family and friends, and travels to Red River and Colorado. He participated in Gas Engine Shows for several years and also enjoyed model railroading.

Lyndel was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Rhea Mahaffey, aunt Leah Butts.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharyne; daughter, Tracy and husband, Michael Morgan of Pottsville, PA. His grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face and pleasure in his heart, Noah and Hailey Morgan of Pottsville, PA, Molly (Morgan) and husband, Robert Fraze of Madison, AL, Matthew and wife, Emily Morgan of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Keith and wife, Sue Mahaffey; sister, Patricia Shyrock; nephew, Shawn and wife Tani Mahaffey, niece, Mashell Swenn, all of Enid. Many other special nephews, nieces and friends.

Memorial service will be held to honor Lyndel, Friday, August 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Enid First United Methodist Church. Cremation arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to Hospice Circle of Love or Enid First United Methodist Church.
