Gov. Kevin Stitt has declared a state of emergency in Oklahoma in all 77 counties. The State Emergency Operations Plan has been activated, and resources of all state departments and agencies available to meet this emergency are hereby committed to the reasonable extent necessary to prepare for and respond to COVID-19 and to protect the health and safety of the public. These efforts shall be coordinated by the director of the Department of Emergency Management with comparable functions of the federal government and political subdivisions of the state.

The City of Enid has announced that Mayor George Pankonin signed a state of emergency proclamation in Enid, Oklahoma to minimize the spread of COVID-19. They will Close certain City government offices to the public, Revoke all public or private events that require City permits, Cancel or postpone meetings of City boards and commissions that are not mandatory during the state of emergency, Follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations to limit gatherings of more than 10 people at public or community events. The emergency will begin immediately and will remain in effect until April 30 at 11:50p.m, unless further extended. Learn more.

The Enid Public Transit Authority has developed an Infectious Pandemic Plan, following the guidelines as set forth by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), American Public Transportation Association (APTA), Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Enid Public Library is cancelling all scheduled events and programs, effective at noon on Monday, March 16th through Monday, May 4th. This includes Enid Author Fest. Any scheduled meetings in our meeting rooms have also been cancelled.

Enid Public Schools will be closed through next fall.

From Enid Public Schools - Beginning March 23, FREE “grab and go” sack lunches and breakfasts will be available for all children under the age of 18 at the following locations: Garfield Elementary School, Glenwood Elementary School and Enid High School. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:30 am, and lunch will be provided from 11:15 am-12:30 pm. Parents are asked to pull through the school drive, and meals will be delivered to the family’s car. Due to US Department of Agriculture guidelines, students must be present in the car to receive a meal.

Bank of Oklahoma has closed their lobby. The drive-thru will continue to stay open.

Bath & Body Works on Tuesday announced it will temporarily close all stores in the U.S. and Canada due to concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Boys Scouts of America Enid Car Show has been rescheduled for June 13th.

Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center will be closed until March 31.

Chisholm Trail Expo Center and Garfield County Fairgrounds announced all events of 50 or more people are cancelled until April 19. This includes the Expo Center, meeting rooms, trade show area, dirt arena, the Hoover and Youth buildings and Enid Speedway.

The Commons has made the decision to cancel their 2020 Annual Easter Egg Hunt. If you have sent a donation or non profit vendor fee in, they will be refunded. Gaslight Theatre is postponing its annual children’s theatre production, Jack and the Beanstalk, which was originally scheduled for March 21-22 and 28-29. Tickets will be honored when the production is rescheduled. The Gaslight Box Office will also be closed this week (March 16 – 21). Greenbrier Village has announced that effective Saturday, March 14th, a restriction has been placed on all visitors to nursing homes by the CDC and CMS. Visitors will be allowed admission for “end of life” situations only. Greenbrier has a system already in place to assist residents/ patients and their loved ones stay in touch during this time.

Leonardo’s Children’s Museum and its programs will be temporarily closed to the public beginning Sunday, March 15th in an extreme effort to keep our children and families safe from this rapidly spreading public health emergency (COVID-19). The Museum has had no known cases of COVID-19 connected to their facility. The Board of Directors and Executive Staff of Leonardo’s is working closely with many other agencies across the state and nation. Therefore, following the recommendation of the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) our temporary closure is expected to be through April 1st.

Loaves & Fishes has made the decision to be proactive and move to boxed food distribution. In an effort to create fewer social interactions, pre-packed boxes of food will be handed out in a drive-thru setting in our parking lot. Learn more HERE.

NJCAA has stated that following the recent recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the NJCAA has made the decision to cancel all upcoming basketball championships as well as spring competition, effective immediately. Spring competition includes all practices, regular season, postseason, and national championship play. This includes the NJCAA tournament in Enid.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University Enid has created alternative instructional delivery methods for a two-week period following Spring Break. Stride Bank Center has postponed events and concerts with 50 people or more. Events affected run thru April 13 due to concerns of the coronavirus. Events postponed are Bull Riding March 28, Chicago on April 1, Land Run Beer Fest on April 4 and the April 11 Oklahoma Flying Aces game. The Stride Bank Center is looking to reschedule all performances. Fans are encouraged to keep tickets until a new date is scheduled or until an event is officially cancelled. Shows unaffected at this time include Ron “Tater Salad” White April 16, The Charlie Daniels Band and The Marshall Tucker Band April 23 and Rodney Carrington Live June 6.

Walmart announced all of its 24-hour stores will close overnight to allow workers to stock supplies and better sanitize stores during the public health emergency prompted by the coronavirus pandemic. Walmart will be open 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Neighborhood Market stores will be open 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
