ENID, OK - Enid Public Schools is excited to welcome its first EPSžConnect community partner – First United Methodist Church.

The church, located at 401 W. Randolph, will host a free weekly Homework Hub on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-5 p.m., beginning this week. Students will be able to access the internet on their school-provided Chromebooks via the church’s Wi-Fi network.

Light snacks will be available, and adults will be present to supervise.

“With the implementation of the 1:1 program, we want to ensure all can access the information and tools they need to be successful in their learning,” Jeffery Herbel, Director of Instructional Technology, said. “We are very grateful to First United Methodist Church for supporting this effort and for making a difference for EPS students.”

Through the generosity of voters and the 2016 bond issue, EPS has provided all secondary students with Chromebooks they can use both at school and at home. All third- through fifth-graders have access to Chromebooks at school, and EPS will soon provide all pre-kindergarten through second-grade students with 1:1 iPads for their classrooms.

All EPS devices utilize the district’s web-filtering software, regardless of what internet connection or network is used.

EPS is seeking more businesses, organizations and churches to offer internet access for students, including those that already offer free wi-fi services to the public. Specific hours for students may be designated, if needed.

EPS will recognize partners on its website, television channel and social media pages, as well as through meetings and announcements.
