APRIL 1 ... LEW WARD DAY AT THE HERITAGE CENTER

ENID, Okla. - In recognition of the significant contributions Lew Ward made to the Heritage Center, the Board of Directors of the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center, Inc. unanimously approved designating April 1, 2016 as Lew Ward Day at the Heritage Center.

April 1, 2016 marks the 5th anniversary of the opening of the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center. Opening day was a jubilant celebration of seeing a long-time dream fulfilled for so many, especially Lew.

You are invited to join them from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center, 507 S. 4th Street in Enid, for a reception in honor of Mr. Lew Ward.

Ward, a longtime Enid businessman, oilman and civic leader, passed away Sunday, March 20 at the age of 85. He was founder and owner of Ward Petroleum Corporation.

The Enid Chamber of Commerce named him Businessman of the Year in 1998 and Citizen of the Year in 2006. He was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2010. Ward also has served as chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America, Washington, D.C., from 1995 to 1997.
