LeRoy Frank Myers

Leroy Frank Myers, 81, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017 at Golden Oaks in Enid, OK. surrounded by his family.

He was born to Frank and Katharina (Rosiere) Myers on July 31, 1936 in Wellington, KS.

He attended Wellington Public Schools in Kansas. While in High School he was employed by a local Dr. to exercise his prized horses.

In November, 1954 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. He married Theda Collene Cook on March 31, 1957 in Wellington, KS. and was then transferred to Marquette, MI. where in May, 1958 their daughter, Shirley Ann was born. After being honorably discharged in September, 1958 they returned to Wellington to make their home. In December 1960, their son, Theron LeRoy was born.

He worked construction, driving heavy equipment. He also drove trucks cross country and worked for several farmers in the Wellington, KS. area.

Later he moved and made his home in Winthrop, AR. In July 1991 he married Reba Mears and to that marriage he gained five daughters. After retiring from construction work he started helping a friend in his watermelon fields and mowing yards. He also liked to tinker and worked on cars.
He had a giving spirit and would give you everything he had if you needed it. As a child he was baptized in the First United Methodist Church in Wellington, KS. He loved spending his time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Gettings of Enid, OK.; son, Theron and wife, Cynthia Myers of Ponca City, OK.; step daughters, Charlotte Tucker of Wilton, AR, Johnnie Lou Forrest of Winthrop, AR., Sandra and husband, Danny Aguda of Winthrop, AR., Donna Cowan of Foreman, AR., Linnie Lewis of Weatherford, TX.; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn and husband, Ted Estes of Oologah, Ok.; brothers, Harold D and wife, Betty Myers of Watauga, TX. and George Myers of Higginsville, MO.; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Alice Baker; and both wives, Theda C. Douglas and Reba Myers.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, December 17 at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, 3002 N. Van Buren, Enid, Ok with the Rev. Mark McAdow officiating. Interment will be in Alleene, AR. Arrangements were made by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorials may be made to Willow View United Methodist Church.
