Leroy Craig

March 26, 1943 - January 19, 2025

Leroy Craig, of Enid, OK was born in Oakland, CA on Mar 26, 1943. Lee passed away on Jan. 19, 2025 at OU Medical Center, OKC, following injuries he sustained during an MVA on Jan 14 in Enid.

Lee lived his first 20 years in the Bay Area, attending several different high schools. He wasn’t a big fan of school and loved running around with his buddies on the streets of San Francisco. Lee decided to join the Navy in the spring of 1963 where he was able to live in Hawaii and learned how to surf. After serving 2 years he visited his sister and brother in law in Alva, OK and decided to stay there and start work in 1965. That summer he met his one and only bride, Carolyn Graves of Alva. They wed just shortly after she graduated high school in June of 1966. The couple called Alva and Tulsa home in the first few years but eventually settled in Enid in 1972. To this marriage they added 3 children, Steven, Kimberly and Chrystal.

While in Enid he worked at Champlain Refinery for over 13 years before they closed permanently in 1984. Over the next several years he would work at various jobs around Enid finally retiring from Lowe’s in 2007. Lee enjoyed fishing and hunting for quail but mostly enjoyed watching NASCAR and watching everything his grandkids were involved in. Lee would eventually be a grandpa to 12 grandkids and 7 great grandkids at the time of his passing.

Lee is survived by his 3 children Steven and wife Cristina of Enid, Kimberly Moore and Michael of Yantis, TX, and Chrystal Hamblin of Pondcreek. Grandkids; Haley Thompson and Logan of Crestview, FL; Matthew Craig and wife Maddie of OKC; Keely Moore of Tyler, TX; Garrett Craig of Edmond; Kacey Chicas and Andy of Sulphur Springs, TX; Alijah Lewis and Harmony of Enid; Ryan Craig of Enid, OK; Ella Moore of Tyler, TX; Alyssa Craig of Enid; Savannah Hamblin of Stillwater; Layla Hamblin of Pondcreek and Maisie Hamblin also of Pondcreek. Great-grandkids are Naomi, Wesley, Thea and Emmitt Craig of OKC; Dean and Ronan Thompson of Crestview, FL and Esme Chicas of Sulphur Springs, TX.

Lee was preceded in death by his mother Josephine Sheppard, and his two sisters Shirley Wheat and Rose Mary Romano.

A celebration of life service for Lee Craig will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Emmanual Enid Chapel, with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris Funeral Home to the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma.
