A Celebration of Life for Leona King, age 85, of Drummond, is 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jim Edmison will officiate, with burial following in Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, OK. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Leona was born October 11, 1931 in to Kenneth and Mabel (Benjamin) Baugher and passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at The Commons in Enid.

Leona graduated from Garnett HighSchool, then married Jack N. King on November 27, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She worked at Garnett Church Furniture Factory in Garnett, Kansas. They moved to Minnesota in 1975 where Jack and Leona farmed for several years. Leona enjoyed all kinds of gardening, flowers as well as vegetables. She was a member of the Viking Flower Club of Minnesota. She loved to decorate her home, inside and out. She had a flower garden decorated with bunnies and bird feeders which drew the birds and squirrels that she enjoyed watching. Leona enjoyed cooking for her family, her fried chicken and red cakes were a couple of her specialties. No one’s birthday went unnoticed without a red cake from Leona. She loved decorating her house for the holidays, all holidays, but Christmas was her favorite. There was always Christmas decorations displayed somewhere in her home, year round.

Leona, or “Grandma Pinky” as she was known to her family, treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren most of all.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mabel Baugher; her husband Jack N. King; son Randy King; brother Mick Baugher; and sister Norma (Baugher) Miller. She is survived by three children, son Rick King and wife Becky, of Garnett, KS; son Steve King and wife Betty, of Drummond; daughter Jackie Ekman and husband Daryl, of Drummond; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Memorials in Leona’s name may be made to the Drummond Fire Department with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
