The services celebrating and honoring the life of LaJean “Jeannie” Ann Kirby, 71, of Enid, will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday February 24, 2022 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with Alan Seibel officiating. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born August 29, 1950 to Edward J. “Ted” Rollo and Caroline “Carol” Elizabeth Erickson in Enid, Oklahoma and passed from this life at home February 16, 2022 in Enid, Oklahoma.
She was raised and educated in Enid as a young child, then moved with her family to Arkansas, and then returned to Enid. She married Michael Ray Burnham in Enid in 1964 and gained an additional set of parents in Robert “Fred” and Lorena Burnham. From this union came three children, Michael, Sherri, and Doug. The family lived in California for a short time before returning to Enid. She married John Johnson and from this union came one son John Paul “J.P.” and bonus daughter Vanessa. She was a medical assistant for Drs. Washburn and McIntyre, and later Dr. Pontious, and worked various jobs while raising her children. She married Kent Kirby August 8th of 1997 and gained three bonus daughters, Krissy, Kamber, and Kaylen. She earned her degree from Northern Oklahoma College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She began working at N.O.D.A. as an Ombudsman supervisor as a long-term care advocate.
LaJean enjoyed hiking, taking walks, photography, participating in many 5ks with her husband Kent, and especially dancing. Her lifelong friendships were particularly treasured. She and Kent enjoyed traveling, including visiting Alaska, and visited precious family members in California, Hawaii, Wisconsin, and Australia. They also enjoyed many adventures as she joined Kent in his job working and traveling across the United States. Some of her happiest times were when her whole family gathered together. She absolutely loved spending time with her family and was a true matriarch.
She is survived by her husband of twenty-four years Kent Kirby, of the home, four children, Michael Burnham and wife Kenda, of Marshfield, Missouri, Sherri Salyer and husband Keith, of Enid, Doug Burnham and wife Tina, of Dennison, Texas, and John Paul “J.P.” Johnson and spouse Keli Gonzales, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; three bonus daughters, Krissy Smith and husband Craig, of Marbleton, Wyoming, Kamber Kirby, of Medford, Oklahoma, Kaylen Corder and husband Nate, of Alva, Oklahoma; her mother, Carol, of Roseville, California; seventeen precious grandchildren and one on the way; twelve precious great-grandchildren; her siblings, Rebecca Oliver, of Magalia, California, Lindy Rollo, of Placerville, California, Jay Rollo, of Eldorado Hills, California, and John Rollo, of Durham, California; two beloved Yorkies that she cared for like babies, Boo and Izzy; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter Alana Raelyn Burnham; her two dads Ted Rollo and Fred Burnham, one mother, Lorena Burnham; and one sister Susan Elizabeth Rollo.
Memorials may be made in her honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
