The funeral services honoring and celebrating Kent E. Hisey will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Open Door Church with Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Park Grove Cemetery of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army National Guard. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Kent was born to Gene and Norma (Foltz) Hisey on December 1, 1952 in Enid, Oklahoma and went to be with his Savior on October 3, 2021 in Oklahoma City.
During his early years, he was raised and educated in Hunter, Oklahoma on a wheat and cattle farm. While growing up, along with his siblings, he learned to feed hogs, milk cows and work alongside his hard working father and mother on the farm. In his high school years, he went on the wheat harvest with his Grandma and Grandpa Foltz all the way to North Dakota cutting wheat.
After graduating from high school in Hunter in 1971, he went on to study at Northeastern A&M in Miami. He then completed his degree by receiving a BS in Engineering Technology from OSU in 1976. He also served in the United States Army National Guard from 1972-1978.
He then worked for the Corps of Engineers for 6 years before working for Bryon Jackson Pump Division as a Project Manager, which later became Ruhrpumpen. He loved his job, co-workers and solving complex problems and retired after 37 years.
After marrying the love of his life, Janis Dickens at Tulsa Baptist Temple on March 4, 1978, they resided in Tulsa. Kent and Janis shared many interests together as they raised their two children. They participated in softball leagues, served as youth leaders for over 30 years, and enjoyed traveling all over the United States and the world. They were blessed with 41 years of marriage.
With his driven personality and positive spirit, he was a man of many interests and was seemingly up for any new challenge or adventure. You could find him at church, golfing, bike riding, attending Cardinal’s baseball games, OSU football games, his grandchildren’s sporting events and researching new places to explore. His love for acoustic guitar was passed down to his son and grandsons. As a dedicated family man, he was an involved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. At any significant family event, Kent would be found behind the camera documenting the special occasion.
He ambitiously decided to further his education and received his MBA from Southern Nazarene University in 2002.
Anyone who knew Kent felt loved, accepted, and encouraged, which emanated from his deep desire to follow Jesus and love others well.
The legacy of faith he left behind is encapsulated in II Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
He is survived by his mother, Norma, his two children and their spouses, Pastor Kevin and Meagan Hisey, Kristin and Curt Sharp, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his siblings, Debbie, John, Darla and a very close-knit extended family that dearly loved him.
