Memorial service for Kenneth Lee Sweetwood, age 86, of Enid, will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00AM at Garriott Road Church of Christ with Mr. Ray Rose officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 6:30 at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born June 7, 1929 in Carrier, to Oliver and Nellie (Sweger) Sweetwood, and passed away on Thursday May, 19, 2016 in Enid at the Living Center.
Kenneth attended school at Carrier, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On November 8, 1953 he married Glenda Wood in Ames, and they made their home in Carrier. In 1956, they moved to Texas for four years. In 1960, Kenneth and Glenda moved to Ames where he farmed. They moved to the Enid area in 1990. Kenneth was a member of the Garriott Road Church of Christ. Kenneth worked as a farmer, did agricultural dirt work and built ponds. His favorite hobby was wood working. Kenneth enjoyed time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Glenda of the home; 3 children Kay and husband Randy Howard of Enid, Lynn and wife Tammy Sweetwood of Diamond, Missouri, and Jay and wife Lisa Sweetwood of Carrier, 12 grandchildren Gina and husband Lee Denten, Chad Driskell, Sheena Sweetwood, Wes and wife Whitney Sweetwood, Maranda and husband Aaron Bridgeman, Tanner Sweetwood, Kendra Sweetwood, Dana and husband Bobby Mangham; 5 great grandchildren Brea & Ashton Mangham, Cason Purdy, Maxlyn and Brexlyn Sweetwood; brother Leland and wife Nancy Sweetwood of Arkansas City, Kansas; and sister Marcella Hatfield of Enid; and several nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother Curtis.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Living Center for the care and love that they gave to Kenneth.
