Graveside services for Karen Dean Smith-Peirce, age 89, of Enid will be held Tuesday February 23, 2021 at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Karen was born October 27, 1931 in Wellington, KS to Dean Winfield and Irene Ethel Mosby Chilton and passed away February 16, 2021 in Oklahoma City, OK. She graduated from Wellington High School in 1949. During high school she worked at the Regent Movie Theater and in the lab at the Hatcher Hospital. After graduation she married Robert Lee Smith, Jr. To this union were born 3 children Vicky LeAnn, Marcia Jean and Robert Lee. She worked part-time with her husband in their clothing and shoe stores at various locations all while raising their family. In later years, she worked for the Kansas SRS in Wellington where she retired.
Karen was an avid reader her entire life and no matter where she lived she was the library’s best patron.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her three children, Vicky Shay, Marcia Teders, and Robert Smith, III; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wellington Public Library.
