ENID, OK - Incumbent Republican state Rep. Chad Caldwell defeated challenger Taylor Venus and won reelection for the House District 40 primary Tuesday night. Caldwell's 2,412 votes were 57% which gave him the victory. Venus had 1,848 votes which was 43%.
-
Venus ran and lost to Caldwell in the 2018 primary. The Democrats did not have a candidate for the June 30 primary so Caldwell automatically wins another term.
-

The Democrats again did not have a candidate running for the District 19 seat.
-
None of the candidates running for Garfield County sheriff were able to earn 50% of the vote so there will be a runoff on August 25, 2020.
-
Cory Rink led with 45.39% of the votes while incumbent Sheriff Jody Helm received 41.6% of the vote. Garfield County Deputy Dariel Momsen received 13.01%. Rink received 3,946 total votes, Helm received 3,617 and Momsen received 1,131.
-
