Services for John Douglas Jett, Sr., 79, of Jet, will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Morris Memorial Community Center, Jet, with Kelly Russell, with First Baptist Church of Enid, officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Jet Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy.
John was born on December 9, 1936 in Jet, the son of Elbert James and Dorothy Viva Cellan Jett, and passed away peacefully on March 18, 2016 at his residence. He was raised and educated in Jet, graduating from Jet High School with the class of 1954. John then served his country in the United States Navy, retiring in 1974. John returned to Jet and worked for many years as a diesel mechanic. Survivors include son, John D. Jr., of Hewitt, Texas; daughter, Juliana Jett of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren, James Jett, Adriana Jett, and Grayson Jett; sister, Patty Ann Highfill of LaCrosse, Kansas.
The family has requested memorial donations be made in John's memory to the American Legion or Veteran's of Foreign Wars, with the Stittsworth's coordinating. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
