Graveside service for John Mauck, age 98, of Enid, will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Brian Meyer officiating. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
John was born June 25, 1918 to Edward H. and Iva Ethel (Husted) Mauck in Dover, and passed away on September 2, 2016, in Enid.
John grew up in the Lacy and Hennessey community, and graduated from Lacy High School. On August 26, 1939 he married Lavina Smith in Dover. He worked as a farmhand and as a lineman for Rural Electrification Administration before moving to Enid in 1946 where he worked for Champlin Petroleum Refinery in the insulation department and later as a pipe fitter. He retired in 1983 after 37 years at Champlin. John loved to garden, and he enjoyed building things and being known as a handy man. In 1950 John built the home his family lived in, and continued to live there until a week before his passing.
He is survived by his daughter Connie Wright and husband Merland of Enid; 6 grandchildren Cindy Brumfield, Tina Eck, Wendy Huskey, Clay Wehling, Brad Wright and Michael Wright; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his wife Lavina, his daughter Joetta Wehling, parents, 4 brothers Owen, Everett, Elmo and Homer, and 3 sisters Dorothy Sturgeon, Edna and Doris.
