Jimmie Lee Hurst

A Celebration of Life Service for Jimmie Lee Hurst, 90, will be at Anderson-Burris Chapel on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Burial to follow will be at the Aline Star cemetery in Aline, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory on January 26, 2025, from 3:00 PM-4:00 PM. Arrangements are made by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.

Jimmie was born on December 5, 1934, in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma to Harold and Drusilla (Loomis) Hurst and passed away on January 23, 2025, in Enid, Oklahoma peacefully at home.

Jimmie married Retha (Bowers) Hurst on November 16, 1959, in Fairview, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Cleo Springs. He also served in the armed forces in Germany from 1957 to 1959. Jim worked at Sears and Roebuck for over 20 years. He then went on to begin his own business at Hurst Construction, where he remodeled homes and performed upkeep on rental properties. After several years he began working for Garfield County courthouse in the maintenance department for 6 years and then retired.

He was an active member of the North Enid Lions Club for 40 years. He also was a member of the Men’s Extension Garden Club for many years. Some of his favorite hobbies were gardening, clock making with cedar wood, mowing the lawn, and yard work. His favorite past time was tinkering around in his shop.

Jimmie is survived by his wife, Retha, of the home, his children, Justin Hurst and wife Jodi of Wichita, Kansas, Scotty Hurst and wife Debie of Enid, and Kimberly Miller and husband Mike of Tulsa; his brother Bill Hurst of Cherokee; grandchildren, Austin and Sara Hurst, Tyler and Lindsay Hurst, Daniel and Kensi Hurst, Kylee and Joe Day, Taylor and Elli Hurst, Megan and Cooper Ward, Madison and Jake Vanderslice, and Mackenzie Miller; and great grandchildren Emma and Ella Hurst, Cole, Caroline and Pete Hurst, Luke and Zeke Day, Noble, Field, Ivy, and Roy Hurst.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Drusilla Hurst; in laws, Dawson and Ruby Bowers; his brothers Dwayne Hurst and Ivan Hurst; and sister-in-law Shirely Hurst.

Memorial donations can be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
