Jim Lund, who was an instant friend to everyone and never met a stranger, died in Ardmore of early-onset Alzheimer's disease, at the age of 63. Born in Joplin, Missouri on 9-6-57. Jim was the first-born of Rob and Barbara Lund. He was followed over the next several years by two sisters, Molly & Amy. The Lund family settled in Enid, Ok. in time for Jim's seventh-grade year. He continued through school in Enid, including college at Phillip's University on a golf scholarship.
He loved sports and played them all, but it didn't take long for everyone to notice that where Jim really loved to be, was on the golf course. Born into a family of golfers, his dad Rob was his inspiration. Jim loved to play golf, watch golf, talk about golf, and win numerous golf tournaments. Even as Alzheimer's began to take him away, he could still hit balls off the practice tee, so straight and far that you couldn't see them land.
Jim's early career included numerous paper routes before he began working in the restaurant industry. Eventually, Jim would help run the successful Peppermill Restaurant and later started Sneakers Restaurant in Enid. Both places were not only successful but wildly fun for the staff and customers as well. Jim brought his signature love of life to the workplace and everyone else happily fell in line with his brand of hospitality.
His computer knowledge led him into a career of sales and operations where his skills as a math whiz were utilized and appreciated. His favorite and final job was as a controller for a trucking company, started by his life-long friend, Kevin Foxx. Jim was instrumental in the success of the company which was sold in 2015. Over the 50 plus years of their friendship, Jim and Kevin golfed some of the most beautiful courses in the county, as well as many, many rounds in their native Oklahoma, with a vast array of friends and relatives.
Jim would tell you he was incredibly lucky to have found himself part of Rhonda Adams life and family, which included not only her three children but her entire extended group of friends and family.
Jim’s notable loves included classic rock music played loud and often, whiffle ball, eating and sharing Braum’s ice cream, Foosball, eating “man food” with the grand-kids, shuffleboard, teaching children to drive and he was Sonic’s chili-cheese tater tots biggest fan.

Jim leaves behind his Ardmore family who provided love and care for Jimmers until the end. Rhonda Adams, Ashton Adams (Eric), Pearson Adams and Jordan Liston (Casey). His sisters Molly Wilson (Von) and Amy Joss (Malcolm). He also leaves five nieces and nephews, who all learned to fish with Uncle Jim on cold Colorado mornings at Childer's cabin in Estes Park. He also leaves beloved friends Kevin Foxx, Chris Beaudin and the “A” team golfers. His memorial will be 4-7pm September 6 at his home course, Dornick Hills, where he won numerous club championships, tournaments and sunk countless holes in one. He loved sharing the joy of golf and was honored to host many friends and relatives at Dornick Hills. In leiu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of choice.
