Funeral service for James “Wendell” Allen, 78, of Enid, will be 1:00 PM, Friday, May 20, 2016 at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Gordon Jantz officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Wendell was born April 25, 1938 in Elmer, Oklahoma to James Leslie and Maggie Allen and passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 in Enid with his wife and friends by his side.
Wendell grew up in Elmer and graduated from Southside High School as valedictorian of his class. On May 29, 1959 he married Patsy “Patrece” Glenn in Altus, Oklahoma where they made their home. He worked for Morrison Wholesale, and was a member of the United States Army Reserve. In 1962 they moved to Enid where he was the manager of Morrison Wholesale until retirement in 1993. Wendell attended North Garland Church of Christ, and loved spending his free time golfing and playing bridge.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife Patrece Allen of the home; nephews Tony Glenn of Altus, Terry Glenn (Stephanie) of Bristow, OK, and Bruce Emerson (Lisa) of Vernon, Texas; and a sister Merlene Emerson (Billy) of Vernon, Texas. He was a nice guy and will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Tommy Glenn.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.
