James (Jim) Andrew Kness

Celebration of Life Service for James (Jim) Andrew Kness 83 of Enid, will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 2, 2020, in the Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Johnson officiating. Burial will be 2:00 PM in the Orion Cemetery west of Fairview, OK under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 31, 2019, from 6:00-7:00 PM at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Jim was the first child born to Martin and Lavina (Ralston) Kness, in Baldwin, Arkansas, and passed away Thursday, December 27, 2019.

In 1955, he met the love of his life Clara Yvonne (Bonnie) Hancock, and they married a year later on March 18, 1956. They had four children; James Andrew, Jr., Jerry, Lenee, and Mark.

Jim served in the US Air Force for ten years. Then after working for Northrup, he also was in the US Army National Guard for six years. He worked many hours as a mechanic for Cardinal Chemical Western Company and the City of Enid where he retired.

He was an avid fisherman and collected arrowheads. He was also a Mason for 59 years..

Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie, son Jerry of Mansfield, TX, daughter Lenee (Tim) Milam of Waukomis, son Mark of Kingfisher, sister Jeannie Terrell of Custer City, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George, Joel, an Jessie, son James Jr., and best friend Newt Jackson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
