A Memorial Mass for James Owings, age 76, will be at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Irwin officiating. Viewing and visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM Monday afternoon at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
James was born to Howard and Eva (Barron) Owings on October 25, 1939, in Braymer, Missouri, and passed away Friday, November 27, 2015, at his home in Enid.
James grew up in Braymer and then worked as a truck driver. On August 31, 1972, he married Barbara Yager in Las Vegas. James was the owner/operator of his own plumbing business and Fisherman’s Cove, a bait shop at Sooner Lake. In 1972, James and Barbara made their home in the Enid area. James was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus 1044.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, son John, and infant brother & sister.
He is survived by his children: Michael Owings of Ponca City, Rhonda (Lynn) Kvasnicka of Enid, Bill (Misty) Owings of Enid, James Edward Owings of Medicine, Tennessee, James Owings Jr. (Rachel) of Galitan, Missouri, Teresa Owings (Greg Daly) of Columbia, Missouri, Tammy (Steve) Boguske of Karney, Missouri; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and brother Huey (Donna) Owings of Belton, Missouri.
