Jackson Prevatt

The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Jackson Hade Prevatt, 78, of Enid will be held privately. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born August 15, 1939 in Chiefland, Florida to William Hade and Violet Faircloth Prevatt. He graduated from Bronson High School in 1959 and began working in the logging industry. In 1959 he joined The United States Army where he toured in Germany. He was honorably discharged after three years of service. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida and began working in the American Bakery, the Save-A-Stop Warehouse, and Trinity Bag Corn. On June 12, 1966 he married Linda McConnell in Jacksonville. He was a Mill Right welder, drove semis in state and on long-haul routes. He then moved to Pasadena, Texas and worked with the Randle Corporation. In 1978 he moved to Enid, Oklahoma where he began working at John Deere as their truck driver. Following he worked for the Drummond Coop. He moved to Baytown, Texas and worked with the Corps of Engineers. He then began working in the auto transport service in Florida, before moving back to Enid. He worked as a CNA with Greenbrier nursing home until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Linda “DeeDee” McConnell, son, Jeff Prevatt and wife Diana, two granddaughters, Holly and Kyra, who were the light of their Papa’s life, and three sisters, Annie Maycurry of Otter Creek, Florida, Virginia Powell of St. George, Georgia, and Ruth Collier, of Otter Creek, Florida

He was preceded in death by both parents.

Memorials may be made to the DAV Chapter 66, and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, lung division, with Brown-Cummings Funeral serving as custodian of the funds.
