A Celebration of Life for J.D. Irons, 69, of Waukomis, will be Thursday, May 26, 2016, 2:00 PM at Oakwood Christian Church with Rev. Joe Wilson officiating. Cremation will follow the service and Inurnment will be at the Waukomis Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
J. D. was born June 28, 1946 in Tulsa, OK the son of Perry and Lucyle Farrell Irons and passed away May 23, 2016. As a child he was a member of Neuman’s Boys Choir as well as the Boy Scouts.
He attended Alva Public Schools and graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy in 1964 in Claremore, OK. Although he did not graduate from Alva High School, he always considered himself a Goldbug. He then attended Okmulgee Tech where he studied Auto Repair and attended NWOSU. J.D. taught auto repair at Dodge City Community College for two years. He was in the auto repair business in Alva before opening his own business in Enid. He owned and operated J.D. Irons Automotive for over 25 years and retired in 2012. He was raised in the First Baptist Church in Alva and later became a member of Oakwood Christian Church. He will be remembered as a fun guy who would give you the shirt off his back.
Survivors include, two daughters, Michelle Porter and her husband Cliff of Enid, Tiffany Siders and her husband Eli of Enid, two sons, Michael Irons of Waukomis, OK, Shawn Tennyson and his wife Desiree of Waukomis, OK, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister, Lyn Lyon and her husband David of Alva, OK and an aunt, Margaret Irons of Dodge City, KS.
