The graveside service for Irvin L. Hatfield, 88 year-old Enid resident will be 1:30PM Friday, March 17, 2017 in the Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Irvin was born November 22, 1928 in Ames, Oklahoma to Earl and MaY (Rork) Hatfield and died Monday, March 13, 2017 in Greenbrier Nursing Home. He attended schools in Ames and then helped his Dad on the family farm. He enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.
On November 8, 1952 he married his wife Erika (Grutzmacher) in Germany. He returned to Enid after his service and sent for his wife and six-month baby daughter to join him. Irvin worked in construction his entire adult life. First with Munger-Emmons and later for DC Bass Construction until his retirenment. He continued to work as a handyman for numerous businesses and families around Enid.
He was a labor leader past President and a member of the VFW. He loved woodworking and working in his garden.
He is survived by his daughters, Vera Mathis of Enid, and Monika Sac and husband Jeff of Bixby, OK., four grandchildren, April Mathis and husband Stewert, Sahra Schwiess and husband Chip, Penni Potts and husband Richard, and Tony Sac. Five great-grandchildren and one sister, Luella Botts.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife , one sister, and five brothers.
