ENID, OK - Major Adam Strigel, an Army veteran from Hungary, came to the Woodring Wall of Honor to lay a wreath at the base of our Vietnam Memorial Wall one year ago this week. He came all the way from Budapest to the United States for a special military observation in Dallas, Texas. While in the States, he visited a friend in Tulsa who encouraged him to visit our park. March 15th is when his country celebrates it's independence. His wreath laid at the base of the Vietnam Wall in tribute to our veterans. It is now on display in our Educational Center. This week, he participated in his country's independence celebration. We are thankful that this veterans park has drawn visitors from as far away as Hungary!

About the Woodring Wall of Honor Park & Educational Center:
-
The Veterans Park serves as a permanent tribute to the past, present, and future veterans of the United States Military who have provided unselfish and honorable service to this country. These are the men and women who built this country, saved it from aggression many times, and continue to protect it and the principles of freedom on which it was founded.
-
Throughout history, and still today, there have been ordinary individuals who rose from the fields of Oklahoma to give their lives for this country. All of them gave something and some of them gave everything. There is no greater devotion...
-
To ensure preservation and growth, we must first appreciate freedom for what it is now, remembering every day that freedom is not automatic; it has been earned, by others, and should be cherished by us today.

On Memorial Day of 2003, a segment of the Woodring Wall of Honor was dedicated to three of Oklahoma's fallen heroes. The names of Rick Husband, NASA astronaut (who took his flight training at Vance AFB, Enid, OK), Tommy Blair, Tulsa resident, KIA Iraq, and Jerod Dennis, Idabel resident, KIA Afghanistan, were engraved on the wall. Their families traveled to Enid to be a part of the Memorial Day Ceremonies to view the dedication of the stone which honored their nephew and sons.

Since that date, over 120 Oklahomans have been honored.
