ENID, OKLAHOMA
Sunday, October 6 is the Horn of Plenty Fall Food Drive. Volunteers from the community will be walking through neighborhoods collecting food for the warehouse beginning at 1 pm and throughout the afternoon. Please have your non-perishable food items on your front porch by 1 pm. Popular items are canned tuna, boxed macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and canned soup.
The Horn of Plenty also accepts monetary donations at any time of the year. Make your gift payable to “Horn of Plenty” and mail it to P.O. Box 5583, Enid OK 73702. We have many angels who support the organization with monthly gifts.
The mission of organization is “Feeding the hungry, changing the world …..” It is an interfaith non-profit food bank that provides food items to other benevolent organizations in the Enid community and surrounding towns. We do not distribute food directly to individual families. We are an independent corporation and not affiliated with national food banks. However we do encourage our member agencies to become members of the Oklahoma City Regional Food Bank. We do this by sharing half the costs of the purchases they make each month through reimbursements. We proudly welcome Loaves and Fishes as our newest member agency.
Upon its inception in 1982, the Horn of Plenty was recognized as the only food bank in the nation operated solely by community volunteers. It has never paid any salaries nor charged any fees for food given to its member churches or agencies.
