ENID, OK - The public is invited to a three week long Heroes Memorial Day exhibit in Oakwood Mall from May 11 through May 31. The exhibit is 30,000 sq. ft. of art and artifacts acting as a memorial to those who have sacrificed their lives and will support wounded veterans through outreach programs.
-
The Heroes exhibit will honor our fallen and support veterans through programs including Pets for Veterans, Knit Your Bit, Woodring Wall of Honor and Blue Star Mothers.
-
A 120 foot long doubled sided information display wall will be surrounded by artifacts to include real military aircraft cockpits. It will take visitors on a history tour of the American soldier from World War One through today.
-
Displays will include aircraft cockpits, military vehicles and Cold War artifacts. Cockpits include a Russian built MiG-21fighter and a AH-1 Cobra helicopter. You'll get to sit in the cockpits and experience what it was like to fly these aircraft.
-
Visitors will also be able reserve a spot to sit in a Sabreliner simulator and feel the pilot and co-pilot experience. This cockpit was owned by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus. Now interfaced as a flight simulator, you can take the controls!
-
The cabin of the Sabreliner will also be available to rent for drinks! It seats up to six and everyone will enjoy the lifestyle of legendary Jack Nicklaus in his very own autographed plane! Nicklaus designed the American Lakes Veterans Rehabilitation Golf Course.
-
KLEMME/Arts will provide a professional art gallery featuring the story of the American Lakes Veterans Golf Course for the rehabilitation of wounded veterans, designed by Nicklaus. The cockpit and cabin of this jet were used to fly him to his win at the 1986 Masters.
-
