Mark McAdow, Pastor Quinton Wray and Pastor Jeremy Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Ladusau-Evans from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
Heather was born November 2, 1978 in Okeene, Oklahoma to Gary and Darla (Peck) Hays, and passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 in Enid.
Heather attended Okeene Public Schools, graduating with High Honors with the Class of 1997. She obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2002. She worked in Enid at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital for 17 years, and had worked for Oklahoma Arthritis Center for approximately a year before her health declined. She married Victor Hood on July 24, 1998 at the Church of Christ in Okeene, Oklahoma. On July 21, 2007, Victor and Heather welcomed their daughter Ashlynn to the family. She was very involved in Ashlynn’s softball and never missed a game or cheering for her (or yelling at the umpires and coaches). Every day after work, she would pick up Ashlynn from home, they would go get their daily drink and then drive around talking and spending that mother-daughter time together until dinner; after which they would watch their favorite shows. As a family, they enjoyed binge watching Heartland together on Netflix. Heather had a passion for online shopping, which started well before the pandemic.
Heather is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, John and Twyla Terry and grandfather A. W. Peck and grandmother, Sherry Peck Hamen; paternal grandparents, Cameron and Joan Hays. She is survived by her husband, Victor Hood, of the home in Enid; daughter, Ashlynn; mother, Darla Hays, of Enid; father, Gary Hays, of Okeene; mother-in-law, Debbie Hood, of Okeene; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorial contributions in Heather’s name may be made to the Ashlynn Hood College Fund with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
