The funeral for Hazel Alwert, 70, will be at 10:00 AM Friday, February 5, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fairmont with Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery, Fairmont, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Viewing will be until service time.
Hazel was born to Glen and Ida (Hosford) Roark, on November 29, 1945, in Enid, and passed away Monday, February 1, 2016, in Enid.
Hazel married Kent Alwert on August 28, 1964, in Enid. She worked at the Methodist Nursing Home for fifteen years as Activity Director, and volunteer at NWOBI. Hazel was a member of the Mo-Ha-La Production Company and Zion Lutheran Church. She was recognized by the Garber FFA as an Honorary Chapter Farmer. Hazel enjoyed cooking and camping.
She is survived by husband Ken Gritz; two children, Tony Alwert and wife Lisa of Fairmont, Shawn Freie and husband Brad of Anadarko; five grandchildren: Garrett Alwert, Bailey Alwert, Braden Alwert, Kohl Murray and Tucker Freie; and two sisters, Ellen Carpenter of Moore, and Elsie Yassie of Edmond.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kent, and three brothers, Leland, Glen, and Dawson.
Memorials may be made to Garber FFA or Zion Lutheran Church.
