The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of H. Allan McBride Jr., 89, of Enid will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday October 22, 2019 in the First Presbyterian Church with The Reverend Andrew Long officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard. The graveside service will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole. Services and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born March 26, 1930 to Hugh and Ethal McBride in Seminole, Oklahoma and passed from this life on October 16, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Seminole, Oklahoma where he graduated from Seminole High School in 1948. He married the love of his life Lajoyee “Sue” Harber on November 10, 1948 in the Presbyterian Church of Shawnee, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. and started basic training in San Diego, California. He served his country honorably and was honorably discharged. He then returned to Seminole, Oklahoma before being called back to service for the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Korean Conflict he started work as a pumper for Sinclair. He then worked in the Insurance Agency for the Farmers Insurance Group before retiring. He still worked part-time for Atwood’s for the better part of eleven years before he fully retired. He was a long time and very active member of the First Presbyterian Church serving as a past Deacon and Elder. He was the past state president of the North West Oklahoma Square dancers association. He was the past president of the Levise and Lace Square dance group and a longtime member of Kiwanis. He was the past state commandant of the Marine Corps League and very active with Toys For Tots.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Lajoyee “Sue” McBride, children, Cynthia Bowden, of Oklahoma City and James McBride, and wife Jennifer, of Enid, grandchildren, Christian Bowden, Justin Bowden, Geoffrey McBride, Jennifer Neilson, Jacob McBride, and Joshua McBride, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Vickie Hudson, grandson, James Lee McBride, siblings, Pearl McBride, Morris McBride, Lucille Erickson, Robert McBride, Mary Hennsley, and Thomas McBride.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Marine Corps League or to Wounded Warriors with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
