Grown Up Summer Camp Offered in Oklahoma

ENID, OK - Summer camp has been a staple for kids for decades and in recent years, summer camp programs for adults have been popping up around the country. This June Enid event coordinator Tammy Wilson is hosting Kamp Kooksamongus - Grown Up Summer Camp in Oklahoma.
-
"As far as we can tell, we are the only ones in Oklahoma doing this. It's our first time but we're pretty excited about it. Camp was always one of my favorite things to do as a kid and I have always wished I could do it as an adult," said Wilson. "I'm sure nostalgia is part of it, but it was also a simpler time and as adults we get caught up in the daily craziness and don't take time to stop, rest, and regroup very often so I wanted to put this event together to give grown ups that loved camp as a kid a chance to relive the good times or give people that never got to go as a kid the experience."
-
Since the event is for adults that have jobs that are hard to get away from, Kamp Kooksamongus will be Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. through Sunday, June 10, 2018 at noon at Dancing Deer Lodge in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
-
"Even though it's not a full week, it's packed with all the same things you loved about summer camp," Wilson stated. Activities include things such as a trivia challenge, an 80's themed dance, a camp talent show, morning meditation/yoga, field day games, team competitions, swimming, and arts & crafts.
-
The camp is co-ed and open to anyone over 21, as there will be alcohol allowed. "It IS grown up summer camp, after all," said Wilson. Though the camp is co-ed, women and men will bunk separately in tents just like regular camp.
-
Kamp Kooksamongus is $250 per person and includes three nights of camping, all meals, camp t-shirt, arts & crafts, all camp activities, games, swimming, photo booth, campfires, dance/party, s’mores, Hippie Juice which Wilson describes as the consummate summer camp adult beverage, and Wilson adds, "The peace of mind you’ll get from escaping your normal grown up world for a few days, not to mention the new friends you’ll make."
-
They do have installment plans to pay for camp over the months leading up to it, taking into consideration grown ups have to pay for camp themselves unlike when they were 12.
-
Wilson states they will cap enrollment at 50 participants so she encourages anyone wanting to sign up to do so as soon as possible.
