Suicide Survivor Support Group

-
When there is a death by suicide, the number of people affected extends far and wide. Family members are left with feelings of guilt, shame and complete shell shock. Friends of those who passed are often living in a clouded world, but are often left out of support systems that seek to journey through grief. The pain reverberates and explodes throughout the lives of suicide survivors, bereaved by suicide every day.

In recognition of the grief that exists after a completed suicide, or even an attempted suicide, Central Christian Church (1111 W. Broadway Ave. Enid, OK) hosts a Suicide Support Group every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month starting at 7:00 p.m. Licensed counselors and therapists from Youth and Family Services and Frame of Mind Counseling Center facilitate the group, providing a place to safely process through grief and worry.

This group is open to all people in need of support. If you are unable to attend a meeting, the invitation is always open to attend the next meeting. Although the group will meet in a church building, there are no religious requirements to attend. All are welcome to this safe space. Please contact Rev. Shannon Speidel (580-233-1214), at Central Christian Church, with any questions.

Our Chapter has fundraisers and the monies are used to send members to Basic Riders courses as well as to other states to find out what they are doing and we can learn from them. A lot of our members as well as myself are members of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation which is the National level of ABATE of Oklahoma.
