OKC, OK - COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise and Gov. Kevin Stitt announced several new restrictions starting on Thursday, November 19 for bars and restaurants throughout the entire state. The new actions are meant to combat the virus' spread.
Effective Thursday, November 19, restaurant tables must stay six feet apart. Dividers may be used to keep groups separated if tables can not be spread apart.
Bars and restaurants will close in-person business at 11:00pm. Curbside and drive-thru may remain open past 11:00pm.
“Data shows that social distancing is harder to maintain as it gets later at night, especially at bars,” Stitt said at the news conference.
Beginning Tuesday, November 17, state employees must wear a face mask at work and anyone visiting state buildings will also be required to wear a mask.
"These are our first actions but they will not be our last," Stitt said in a Monday press conference. Stitt also said the state will implement new actions if and when it is appropriate. "A vaccine is on its way but we need to buckle down until then," he said.
All Oklahomans are encouraged to wear a mask, wash their hands, and watch their distance.
No ending date for the new restrictions was announced at the press conference.
