Gordon R. Sampson, 87 and Ilene A. Sampson, 82, of Enid Oklahoma, both originally from North Dakota. After a tragic car accident on May 14, 2018, they passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018, at OU Medical Center, Oklahoma City, OK, surrounded with love by family & friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, at Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service, 2420 N. Washington, Enid, OK.

Gordon was born April 4, 1931, in Florence Township, Foster County, ND, the son of Chis and Agnes (Barker) Sampson and was raised in Jaunita, ND. He served in the U.S. Army and after his honorable discharge he returned to ND and became a diesel mechanic. He worked for KOCH Industries in ND, OK, UT and KS. After retiring from KOCH, he decided to go back to work as a diesel mechanic for Groendyke Transport in Enid, until he finally retired permanently at the young age of 75. He enjoyed doing woodworking projects and took great pride in taking care of their yard.

Ilene was born August 10, 1935, in Williston, ND, the daughter of Severt and Mabel (Magnuson) Bolken and was raised in the McHenry, ND area. She worked at various nursing homes and eventually Bass Hospital in Enid, where she was employed for many years and retired from. Like Gordon, Ilene went back to work and had her own cleaning business for numerous years. She was greatly appreciated and loved by her clients because of her meticulous ways and fun personality. She thoroughly enjoyed beautifying their home, decks and yard.

Gordon & Ilene each married the love of their life, June 10, 1955, in Moorhead, MN. This year, they would’ve been married 63 years. They cherished the four children they raised and spent many wonderful years camping & traveling as a family. They immensely enjoyed visiting with their countless good friends & family, having company over to their home and spending time traveling. In their later years, just being at home, watching their favorite TV shows together gave them great joy. Even though life brought them many challenges over the years, their faith in Jesus carried them through and grew substantially because of it. Their fun-loving, energetic personalities and generous, caring hearts will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved them.

Gordon and Ilene are survived by their four children, Gerald, Enid, OK, Lynette, Enid, OK, Curtis (Tricia), Waukomis, OK and Michelle and her fiancé Shawn Bogue, Dexter, KY; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; Gordon’s siblings, Birdella Beach, Jamestown, ND and Lyle (Marty) Sampson, Dodge, ND; and they both have many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Gordon and Ilene were preceded in death by both of their parents; Gordon’s five brothers and one sister; Ilene’s two sisters; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel with Pastor Janice Buffalo officiating. Services have been entrusted to the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
