A service to celebrate the life of Gladys Mae Thompson 92, of Enid, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jarrod Cloud and Rev. Dale Shorter officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory.
Gladys was born on September 5, 1931 in Enid, Oklahoma to Henry and Alta Tapp Martin. She peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2023. On February 6, 1959, she married James R. Thompson in Belen, New Mexico. Together, they raised four sons. In her younger years, Gladys worked as a nurse‘s aide and then later focused her time on caring for her family.
Gladys will be remembered by family and friends as happy, sassy, and fun-loving. She lived a life full of love for her family and for God.
Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Thompson; her son, Robbie; her parents; three sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by her three sons, Jim Chapman and his wife Ramona, Eddie Chapman and his wife Lee, and Jeff Chapman and his wife Yvonne, as well as five grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a brother Dean Martin.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Enid First Assembly of God Church.
