September 28, 1933 - February 13, 2024
Georgia Evern Fuchs, 90, passed peacefully from this earthly life on February 13, 2024 in Enid, Oklahoma.
Georgia was born in Aline, Oklahoma on September 28, 1933 to Everett Louis and Margaret Helen (Morehead) Daily, just 45 years after Grandpa Libby settled the territory in the Land Run of 1889. Everett, as an employee of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), provided a remarkable life of travel to Margaret, Georgia and her younger brother Jimmy. Georgia graduated highschool in Flint, Michigan and met her husband James Elmer Fuchs (Jim), at a USC&GS party in Ladysmith, WI in 1952.
Jim and Georgia were married on March 5, 1954 in Brenham, Texas and celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary before Jim’s final move to Heaven on January 10, 2014. They had four children: Douglas Bruce Fuchs (Maryann) of Conroe, Texas; Joel Raymond Fuchs; Leanna Carol Sheppard (Larry) of Houston, Texas; and Janet Lynn Roberts (Lee) of Wakita, Oklahoma. Georgia and Jim moved around the nation a remarkable 100 times before retiring to Enid in 1992. She lived at Burgundy Place in Enid since 2019.
The last of her generation, Georgia was preceded in death by Jim; her parents; brothers Everett Jr. and Jimmy; son Joel (2020); grandson Preston (1985); and son-in-law Larry Michael Sheppard (2021).
Georgia and Jim leave a legacy of grandchildren: Zachary James Fuchs (Tiffany) of Yukon, OK; Daniel James Fox (Helen) of Conroe, TX; Bradley Fox of Houston, TX; Peter Sheppard (Christina) of Baytown, TX; Georgia Elizabeth “Beth” Barnard (Ty) of Nash, OK; Ryan Sheppard (Hannah) of Houston, TX; James Moody (Lauren) of Stillwater, OK. Great-grandchildren include: Wyatt James Fox; Laramie and Wilder Sheppard; Thomas Sheppard; Nolan and Mark Barnard; and Piper Moody.
Georgia is survived by her dear in-laws Ed & Vi Fuchs of Bismarck, ND; Ken & Mary Ann Fuchs of Williston, ND; Carole & Paul Wogen of Minneapolis, MN; nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to the employees of Burgundy Place for their many kindnesses over the last years of Georgia’s life.
