Covington and all who knew and loved George Kegin has lost a great man. He gained his independence from this world and his promotion to heaven on his favorite day of the year, July 4th.
George was born December 30 to Robert and Clara Kegin. He was 85 years old. He attended 12 years in the Covington schools and went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Central College in McPherson, Kansas. He obtained a Masters Degree from Phillips University and an Administrators Degree from Oklahoma State University.
In 1955 George Kegin and Sharoll Kay Diveley were married in Pineville, Missouri. They would be married 68 years on August 1st.
George was elementary principal and taught in Covington, taught at Carver Elementary in Enid and was principal, teacher and grade school basketball coach at North Enid Elementary. Later he would go on to work for Oilfield Rentals, Oil Tool Rentals, Homco and R & L Hydrostatic Tubing Testing as a sales consultant in Enid.
George loved his family, people and Jesus. You could always find him having fun, traveling and playing with his kids, fishing, golfing and watching anything Oklahoma Sooners. He showed us all how to look on the bright side of things and find the funny and fun in life. He always had a story and a joke and a great song to share whether it was Baby Ducks or Jesus Loves Me! So thankful for his love and compassion for Jesus, life and others and the lessons he taught each of us by example! He would give his shirt off his back, and literally has, to help anyone in need.
George is survived by his wife Sharoll of the home, his children Joe (Carol) Kegin and Bertie (David) Baldwin of Covington and Jeanie (Wirt) McKee, Mountain Home, AR. George’s joy and delight were his 12 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grand child. He is also survived by his brother Tom Kegin, Harrah and sister-in- law Judy Kegin, Emporia, Kansas and many special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bobbie and Jim Kegin, sister Betty Kegin, sister-in-law Dorothy Kegin and 1 grandchild and 1 great grandchild.
He has rocked us to sleep and rocked our world! Most of us have memorized sneaky snake and baby ducks because of his love for singing and each of us. His many jokes and 5th Sunday singing will be remembered and missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Amy Stittsworth Cremation and Funeral Directors will handle the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tri-County Senior Citizens Center of Covington.
